Peter S

Sir Peter Soulsby

City Mayor,
Leicester City Council

Peter was elected as Leicester’s first City Mayor in 2011 and has served in that role ever since, having been re-elected in 2015 and 2019. He was previously Leader of the Council for 17 years in the 1980s and 1990s, and MP for Leicester South from 2005 to 2011. 

 

Since becoming City Mayor, Peter has led the delivery of the Connecting Leicester programme, investing in walking and cycling infrastructure, developing quality public realms including Jubilee Square and Green Dragon Square, and also transforming the waterside to attract regeneration developments such as Pioneer Park, Great Central Square and Space Park Leicester.

Sarah took up her role in 2009 to establish strong working relationships with city centre businesses to enable a joint working approach to help position Leicester as a great place to live, study, shop, work and enjoy.

She is passionate about the retail industry and has experience of mixed-used developments both in the UK and overseas.

Sarah works in partnership with the tourism businesses to deliver the Leicester City Tourism Action Plan to grow the visitor economy.   She was instrumental in establishing the first Business Improvement District (BID) for Leicester and represents the city council on the BID Board.

Beth Hilbin

Associate,
Transport for Quality of Life 

Beth has been involved in the design, delivery and evaluation of sustainable transport programmes since she started her career in transport in Peterborough, managing one of the DfT’s three pathfinder Sustainable Travel Towns. She is particularly passionate about process evaluation and capturing lessons learnt – in order to help the wider sector evolve and improve.

 

Beth runs The Smarter Choice Consultancy, and is an associate with Transport for Quality of Life. Currently, her main focus is managing the national evaluation of the Transforming Cities Fund – being delivered for DfT by the University of the West of England Bristol, Sustrans and Transport for Quality of Life.

Isobel Hoskins

Co-Founder,

Co-founder of Graffwerk, the team behind the award winning Bring The Paint Street Art Festival Isobel and her organisation has played a core role in the development of public arts projects in the City of Leicester. Graffwerk are also responsible for the recent installation of the tallest mural in Europe which can be found on St Georges Tower in Leicester.
